  1. Advent WILL of John Hosken, Gent., of Advent in Cornwall. Contemporary attested copy on 1p. large folio. Folded, with docket title. Will dated 1672, copy slightly later. £30.00
    Leaves money for the 'reparation of the Church of Advent', and to the relief of the Poor of the parish, to his brother the tenements of Higher and Lower Trewynt in Advent, and a tenement called Tressallott and Garway in Advent. Thomasine Carnsew was to get 21 ewe sheep.

    Sheet no. 8, which formed part of a map of the whole of England.

Checkhouse Common RECEIPT signed by Henry Paynter affirming he has received four pounds from John Hill for the annuity in consideration of his house and garden and also '1/16th share of Checkhouse(?) Common... and from the sale of Five Tons of Copper Oar to be raised in the said Common... to pay Five pounds yearly instead of four pounds'. 1p, folio. signed and witnessed, blank conjoint leaf. 1757. £18.00

  18. Copper Mines TICKETING BOOK for copper sold, mainly at Redruth but also at Truro, Pool and Camborne. With weekly manuscript entries over the period Jan. 11th 1849 - Dec. 28th 1854. 283 double page spreads in a folio ledger, 17" x 8«", 'Copper Ores Sold' on left hand page, with printed columns for 'Mines'(approx. 20 mines listed per page), 'Fine Copper' (weight), 'Price per 21c', 'Amounts' (in money), 'Standard', and 'Each Company's Purchase' on facing page, with columns for 'Purchasers', 'Copper Ore', 'Fine Copper', 'Amounts', 'Name of Companies'. A figure for Average Standard and Average Produce is given weekly. After Nov. 1st 1851 the format changes slightly, the left hand page being usually left blank and purchases only being given, including those at Swansea, with additional quarterly tables for the various companies' purchases. Full reversed calf, corners rubbed, small portion torn from top of spine, calf peeling from back board, morocco lettering piece with title "Ticketing Book. 1849", rubbed. Glue marks on spine where paper label removed. 1849 - 54. £360.00

  20. Cornwall Boiler Co. ARCHITECT'S DRAWINGS Two detailed scale drawings on waxed cotton, in ink, one with some colour, size 22" x 18", showing 'Section through Rivetting Tower', 'Detail of Gate', and larger scale detail of top of rivetting tower, the other size 23" x 34", showing 'South Elevation' and 'West Elevation', of rivetting tower on a long building of two stories with 5 windows on ground floor, eight on the first floor, and a single storey extension, and a separate building with round window.   22. Cornwall Minerals Railway Co. MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS AT A SPECIAL BOARD MEETING 22nd July 1873. Manuscript, 5p. signed by Chairman, size 15" x 9", plain wraps with MS title, horizontal fold, wraps rather grubby. Pasted in at relevant points are 3 notices, one giving notice of first Ordinary General Meeting of the new company, for electing Directors, etc., notice requesting Shareholders submit old shares for new issue under the 1873 Act, and covering letter explaining the conversion to a Parliamentary Company. 1873. £80.00
    'From a personal inspection of the Works on the above Railway made within the last few days, I am satisfied that the Contractor, Sir. S. Peto, has so far advanced the work as to justify me in recommending that the payment which would be due to him under his Contract on the 7th proximo be made.... W.H. Thomas, Engineer'. The railway was revitalised under the speculator W.R. Roebuck 'he formed the Cornwall Minerals Railway, authorized on 21 July 1873' a number of standard gauge mineral lines 'all opened after feverish activity on 1 June 1874'. Grade and Ruan Minor TITHE RENT CHARGE 1878-9. 6 double-page spreads, folio, entries in ink in printed columns for Tenements, Occupiers, Rent Charge in Apportionment, Receipts, Arrears, etc. Lacks wraps. Manuscript title for Ruan Minor Section, but not Grade Section. One double-page spread for 'Rents' at end. Page edges dusty. 1878-9. £36.00

  29. Grade ASSIGNMENT by way of mortgage of a tenement called Mount Batt in Grade, Thomas Stephens to Richard Johns, including lands enclosed out of wastrel ground called Gwendreath Common, with Common of Pasture, Furze, Turf and Heath in Goonhilly Down. Large vellum sheet, wax seal. 1847. £15.00

Grade CONVEYANCE of part of lands and house beside the road leading from Polstrangey to Kugar, and fields in Kugar called Voas an nell, with the liberty to take sand and seaweed from Poltesco Cove, J. Stephens to J. Jenkin. Large vellum sheet, wax seals. On verso is small genealogical 'diagram' referred to in text. 1876. £15.00

  31. Grade GRANT of a freehold tenement in Kugar in Grade, John Medlyn and Philippa his wife to John Randle of three acres of land, two gardens and a dwelling house at Kugar.   33. Great Wheal Fortune Mining Co. PEREMPTORY ORDER to Cornish & Borlase, made in the Stannary Court, in the Matter of the Companies' Act and of the Great Wheal Fortune Mining Company, for payment of Arrears of Calls. 2p., folio, printed on blue paper, plus docket title. Two schedules on second page, one listing approx. 50 Contributories. 1871. £24.00
    Unstamped copy. Concerned the will of James Angove and George Fowle.


  34. Gwinear COUNTERPART OF SETT to raise tin, lead, copper etc. in land in Gwinear limited by the Lamin Estate, Wheal Hope Sett, George Duke of Leeds to John Davies of Crowan. Vellum, size 17" x 22", wax seal. Outside dusty. Ink very slightly faded, but completely legible. 1803. £40.00

  35. Helston AFFADAVITS OF DEBT 37 affadavits of debt, sworn at Helston before the Mayor, 1739-48. 4to, manuscript, signed by the Mayor, impressed tax stamps. States sum owed for 'Goods Sold and Delivered in the Borough of Helston'. 1739-48. £140.00

  36. Helston and Constantine RENTAL of the Lands of Rev. Richd. Hill and Miss C.M. Hill, Michaelmas 1850,51,53. Three booklets, each with 3 double-page spreads, sm. folio, ruled in columns for 'Tenants', 'Tenements', 'Amount Received' etc. Plain paper wraps with MS title, very ragged and stained, 1853 booklet lacks wraps. Edges of pages stained. 1850-3. £40.00
    Properties include in Constantine: Bosahan, Watercourse to Wheal Vyvyan Mine, dwelling house part of Bridge tenement, and in Helston: House and garden in Meneage Street, field near the Beacon, dwelling house near Cross-wolla Turnpike Gate.


  37. Helston BOND for £520, Thomas Cock of Marazion and William Rogers of St. Hilary to John Hill of Helston. 52 lines on paper, size 22" x 16", in English, with preamble in Latin. Signed by Cock and Rogers with good small armorial wax seals. Witnessed with attractive signatures. Relates to a messuage with house and garden etc. in Wendron Street, Helston. On verso is a declaration by Thomas's son Robert that he will take over the obligation on attaining the age of 21. 16 lines, signed by him and witnessed. 1718. £30.00
    John Hill had begun a prosecution in the Court of the Exchequer against Thomas Cock.

  91. St. Just in Roseland AUCTION HANDBILL advertising sale in Truro of properties in St. Just in Roseland, Veryan, Cornelly, and Cuby. Size 12" x 8", folds. Describes 6 Lots, with occupiers, including cottage called 'Towns Close' at Trethewell, land called Reskevus in Veryan, 'Wallish Down' etc. Untidy notes of prices in pencil in margin, three lots marked with large ink cross. Attached is a crude plan on tracing paper of Lot 6, and a solicitor's letter. 1874. £18.00

  92. St. Martin in Meneage DEPOSITION AND EXAMINATION of Mary Michell the widow of Richard Michell. Manuscript, 1p., 4to. 11 lines. Signed with her mark, but not signed by Justice. 1818. £14.00
    Says that Walter Priske her natural child now 4, was born in St. Martin in Meneage and that Richard Michell of Constantine with whom she afterwards intermarried was the father of Walter Priske.


  93. St. Minver ACCOUNTS from Coode & Sons Solicitors for Mrs Sandys, 1821-1863. Each double page, small folio, listing payments made and received. Refers to legal work carried out, dividends on Grand Junction Canal shares, income from lands in St. Minver and Lanivet, and marriage jointure. 30 accounts, folded with docket title (several years missing). 1821-63. £15.00
    Probably the daughter of Rev. William Sandys of St. Minver, who moved to Somerset.


  94. St. Minver LEASE of a newly-erected dwelling houses in the Church Town of St. Minver with the wastrel adjoining, William Sandys to Thomas Mably. On paper, 19" x 27", repaired tear 12" along one fold. Two wax seals. Unsigned, note on verso 'not executed' under heading 'Anthony's House'. 1794. £12.00

  109. Truro ORDNANCE SURVEY MAP Composite map, scale 25" to 1 mile, showing the western part of Truro, covering the area from Victoria Place as far west as Malabar, and from Nansavallan to as far north as Pencoose. Two sheets pasted one above the other, but with the right hand side trimmed. Water features, buildings and main roads hand-coloured. Some brownish marks from glue where the two maps overlap. First edition. 1880. £30.00
    The map has been used to mark a railway from near Treyew Mills northward through the west part of Truro, and another one branching off near the Cattle Market.
