4to cashbook, parchment covered boards, first page headed 'Farming Accounts 1844'. 160 pages. Lists sums spent on wages, stock, seeds, tithes, property tax, poor rate, lime, guano, farm equipment, smith's work. Places mentioned for payment of taxes etc. include Kirbythore, Newbiggin, Culgaith. The accounts for the 1870's are less detailed and more hastily written.

1p., 4to, dated May 20th 1837. On conjoint leaf is another petition for continuing over 12 Sabbath days, ending 22nd October 1837, services by a different preacher. With names of 29 people... together with... A Few Statements in Relation to my design in Preaching at Carlisle. Note of 23 lines on small 8vo sheet. Note on verso 'If the Lord will I shall Preach next Thursday Evening on the Sands at half past 7 o'clock.' 2 items.

Printed Report and Accounts for 1900, 1901, 1903, 1905, and a manuscript balance sheet 1907.
* The New Brewery was established in 1774, in Shaddongate. Brewing stopped there in 1917 and the buildings were demolished in 1973.

A SURVEY OF THREE FIELDS IN THE PARISH OF DISTINGTON
belonging to Benn Gilliat, called Haverigg, Benn Close & Tom Close, done by B.G. in the Year 1779.
Manuscript plan in ink and colour, size 11" x 13". Large oval cartouche, pair of dividers with scale bar, placed horizontally, and small table of acreage, across the middle of the plan, with one large field above and two smaller ones below. Decorative coloured compass rose in each field. Roads shown, a few trees, and small drawing of a house, with lake behind, and carriage passing in front, bottom left. Paper uniformly browned, colours muddy and faded, presumably due to acid in paper which was placed behind it (not pasted on) when once framed. The browning has made a few words difficult to read. The is a note in the dividers 'All the Hedges that is black (& not coloured), belongs to the Premises.'
* An interestingly composed plan.

Fully hand-coloured map, scale 1" to 1 mile, size approx. 13" x 15", plus wide margins, key in margin. About two-thirds is sea.

33pp., sm. folio, disbound, separately paginated. Docket title, traces of folds. A few leaves with some slight discoloration in right margin. With amendments and corrections in ink in a neat contemporary hand throughout.
* Refers to rights to Mines of Coal, Lead, Tin, Copper, Minerals, Stones, Fossils, etc. The Lord of the Manor who was entitled to Mines and Minerals was the Earl of Egremont. Presumably the Bill was amended prior to becoming an Act.

Lightly coloured manuscript plan in brownish tracing paper mounted on paper then on linen, size 28" x 30", folding into 8vo marbled wraps. Scale 25" to 1 mile. Shows buildings at Wallace Lane, Hazelspring, Hilltop, Studholme Rigg Wood, fields with acreage etc., river, streams, roads... together with... HILL TOP FARM The Property of the Right Honble Lord Leconfield. 1864. Similar plan, size 33 " x 55", folding into 8vo marbled wraps. The two plans fit together, with some overlap. The area of Hazelspring Farm is coloured pink and Hill Top Farm green. Neat manuscript labels on wraps. 2 items.
