Bill with heading printed in a variety of typefaces, size 16" x 6", folds, made out to G. Riddall, for 43 items, including hammers, padlocks, hooping, fire tiles, '2" Prison Door nails', etc. 1859. £14.00
Hertford FOUR LETTERS from William Cooper in Roundham, Norfolk, to Mr Bourd(?), Market Street, regarding his lease of Roundham from Sir John Sebright. Each 2-3 pages, 4to, with address panel, small wax seal and Harling postmark on verso. Refers to his expenditure on the farm, and the crops on 'Norfolk light land', 'last year my losses have been very severe, first with the crop of turnips... heavy loss of Sheep... still I have to be thankful for Sir John's former liberality and a good price for wool...'. 1836-7. £26.00
¶ Sir John Sebright (1767-1846) developed a breed of chicken, the Sebright, and wrote pamphlets on the process. He was cited by Charles Darwin. These letters are presumably addressed to some kind of land agent or solicitor.
