Vellum sheets, size 20" x 38", two small armorial wax seals. Some slight browning in parts, engraved initial letter slightly rubbed.
¶ Concerned a messuage in Saint Mary Bourne 'near the May Pole there', and another messuage called 'Billetts' as well as various closes of land, including closes in the village called Link, Longclose, Bedlams and Lyes, Pepper Hill field, etc.

Portsmouth Office of Ordnance
TO BE FORTHWITH ISSUED out of her Matys. Stores within the said Office at Portsmouth...
Manuscript order on 1p, sm. folio, for powder for 3 months for the Marquis de Montandre's Regiment, itemising quantities of 'Corn Powder', 'Musqtt. Shott'. With three signatures. Blank conjoint leaf, small piece of paper torn from corner of both leaves at top, well away from any text, the pieces that have been torn are present and could be re-attached. Paper uniformly darkened.
13th June 1712.
¶ One of the signatures is that of Newdigate Owsley, who was Paymaster General under Queen Anne. Montandre had arrived in England as a Huguenot refugee. He was given command of a regiment and fought in the Nine Years War and the War of the Spanish Succession. He became Master General of the Ordnance in Ireland.
