  1. Basingstoke ASSIGNMENT of a house in Winchester Street, William Hack of Basingstoke, Innholder, to Nicholas Tanner, Labourer. Vellum, size 25" x 33", armorial wax seal. 1787. £15.00

  2. Basingstoke, Kingsclere, Stockbridge ORDNANCE SURVEY MAP Sheet XII. Scale 1" to 1 mile. Size 24" x 36", linen-backed and folding to 8vo, plain paper endpapers. Main roads, parkland, hand-coloured, county borders with wide pink and yellow bands of shading. Taken from an Electrotype 1867. £45.00

  3. Basingstoke, Stockbridge, Newbury ORDNANCE SURVEY MAP Sheet XII. Scale 1" to 1 mile. Size 24" x 36", linen-backed and folding into marbled endpapers. Recent handwritten paper label on front wrap. Printed from an Electrotype 1876. £35.00

  4. Bonchurch, Shanklin ORDNANCE SURVEY MAPS Sheet XCIX N.E. Scale 6" to 1 mile, size 24" x 18", plus margins, dissected and mounted on linen, folding into 8vo paper wraps. Main roads coloured. Surface rather dusty. About half the map is sea area. Revised 1907. £17.00

'Clifton Cottage' and a pair of quaint old thatched cottages... for sale by Auction... 21st July, 1925... 12pp., small folio, folding plan at rear. 3 tipped-in photographs, and one on front wrap.   8. Hampshire BURLEY MANOR Manuscript plan of outbuildings and flower beds entitled "Copy of Mr E.C. Lister Kay's Drainage Plan.' In ink on tracing paper, size approx. 19" x 20", scale 4yds to 1". Shows Granary, Dairy, Saddle Room, Shrubbery etc with drainage plan in red ink. n.d. c1890. £5.00

  9. Kingsclere TRACING SHOWING OUTLINE PORTIONS of Lord Bolton's Property from the Kingsclere Inclosure Map. Manuscript sketch map in ink and colour on waxed cotton, size 40" x 29", folds. Coloured to show property to be sold and property to be retained. Shows roads, buildings, fields etc. Covers Butler's Coppice, Sleeper Coppice, Holt Common, Skittle Hill Coppice. Some notes in a small hand on some areas re. exchanges with Duke of Wellington etc. Some slight smudging of red ink. n.d. 1880? £12.00

For auction sales of furniture, including various pianos, bicycles etc., property 'Glencairn' in Upton Road, etc. Posters for Wallis, Riddett and Co. auction sales, printed in very large type faces, size approx. 30" x 20". Some short repaired marginal tears. 4 items. 1894-1902. £16.00
    Includes 'Glencairn' in Upton Road, piano by 'Hopkinson', safety bicycle, 'Rudge' tricycle, etc.

  12. Ryde Isle of Wight THREE AUCTION POSTERs for sales of furniture by Messrs. Wallis, Riddett & Down. Posters printed in very large type-faces. Size 30" x 20", advertising sales in 1894 and 1900. Includes bicycles, 'Rudge' tricycle, tandem, 'Hermann' piano, Brussels carpets, bamboo furniture etc. A few minor repaired edge tears. 3 items. 1894-1900. £18.00

  13. Ryle (Herbert), Bishop of Winchester LETTER from his wife to the Rev. Cudlip, at Plympton, dated Farnham Castle, Feb. 7th 1904, thanking him for the messages from their Devon friends 'we cherish the memory of the dear Exeter days', with envelope, and a second letter of 1908 from Herbert Winton about the stone Cudlip is having built into the Piscina at All Saints, Sparkwell 'it will indeed be a sermon from stone...' 2 items. 1904 and 1908. £7.00

Shedfield PARTICULARS & CONDITIONS OF SALE of Valuable Freehold properties situate at Shedfield in the parish of Droxford comprising Three Brick-Built and Slated Cottages, one Acre of Meadow Land, Three Acres of Arable land, which will be offered by Public Auction....   15. Southampton Salisbury Canal POEM manuscript of 8 lines, making fun of the proposal to build a section of the canal along the estuary. Written at the top of a 4to sheet. Below this is 'On a Memorial in Kingston Church Yard'. 25 lines describing how Lt. Robert Jenks and seamen from H.M.S. Hero were drowned off Roscoff, in a gale, in 1810. Some managed to reach shore in a boat but 'from which they were inhumanly driven by the French soldiers and compelled to expose themselves to the mercy of the waves'. n.d. early 19th century. £18.00
    The anonymous poem, presumed to have been written by the Poet Laureate, compares the proposal to the man who cut two holes in his wall 'To admit his two cats, the one large, t'other small'.

  16. Stockbridge COUNTERPART LEASE of a Burgage and garden near the Fleet Gulley in Stockbridge, Thomas Carteret Hardy to John Bern, Labourer. Single large vellum sheet, two wax seals. 1795. £15.00

  17. Stoke LEASE FOR THE YEAR of a close of land called the Parsonage Purrock in Stoke, William Peachy of Gosport to Revd. Francis Clifton. Vellum, size 13" x 18", wax seal. 1791. £20.00

  18. Vosper's PATENT 4-CYLINDER LAUNCH ENGINE Important Testimonial. Advertising Sheet, size 15" x 9", printed on one side only, the large heading and border in gold, testimonial from E.S. Bowlby, Royal Victoria Yacht Club, printed in blue. Three horizontal folds. Vosper & Co, Broad Street, Portsmouth. 1879. £16.00
    Vospers were a shipbuilding company, established in 1871. They became well known for their high-speed yachts.

  19. Whitchurch ORDNANCE SURVEY MAP Sheet XXIV.4. Scale 25" to 1 mile. Size 27" x 39", flat sheet. Buildings, water features and main roads hand-coloured. Covers Tufton, most of Whitchurch, grounds of Hurstbourne Park with statue, cottage, The Grange. Repaired tear at left edge just obtruding beyond border... together with ORDNANCE SURVEY MAP Sheet LXXXV.12, scale 25" to 1 mile, covering Bournemouth from Central Drive to the Dorset border. Just under one third of the map is blank, being Dorset. Buildings printed in green. 2 items. 1872 and 1933. £55.00
    Shows Fulling Mill, Silk Mill, Chalk Pits etc.

  20. Winchester College LETTER from the headmaster, Dr. George Moberley, dated Winchester, 26th May, 1860. 5 lines on sm. 8vo., mourning border. Writes to a mother refusing permission of absence for her son 'we do not give our boys leave out till next week...' 1860. £10.00
    Moberley was Headmaster from 1835 - 1866. He later became Bishop of Salisbury.

  21. Winchester LETTER from Sir Thomas Heathcote, Hursley Park, April 23rd 1822. Written in the third person, saying he will have the honour of waiting upon the President of the Council of the Royal Academy on 4th May. Four lines, 4to. 1822. £14.00
    Sir Thomas Freeman Heathcote (1769-1825) was M.P. for Hampshire from 1808-1820.
