AN ACCOUNT OF THE SEVERAL CLOSES and parcels of land and the quantities and number of acres thereof and how the same have been used and cultivated, Lady day 1824 to Lady day 1825 in the occupation of the defendent John Light Bennett.
Manuscript, one and a half pages folio, setting out in columns 22 field names with quality, quantity and how cropped. On verso is list of tithable articles on his farm, such as sheep, calves, clover seed etc, with value and value of tithe.
¶ The place is not given, but there was a John Light Bennett of this period in the Shaftesbury area.

¶ 'The Knapp' was built by the controversial barrister, Alexander Meyrick Broadley.

LETTER dated Poole 16th August 1622.
15 lines on one side of 4to sheet, conjoint leaf with address panel to his cousin Edward Waties Esq. Begins 'Worthie Cosyn' and signed 'John Lloyd'. There is a small piece torn from the conjoint leaf, presumably where seal torn.
¶ Says he has received the 㿞 he sent him, and he should pay the rest of the money owed the first of November, and give it to Thomas Mathews for the payment of a hundred pounds 'by which I may satisfy Sir Robert Vaughan that I freed him from that sum he being bound for me to Mr Mathews'. His bearer should take the acquittance to Mr Mathews.

¶ Covers Dorchester, Bridport, Lulworth Cove. The red line shows the railway branch line to Abbotsbury through Upwey, opened in 1885.

¶ Leaves to his wife Sarah 'all that Woodrow Estate with house and a strip of land ajoining at my desise and 2 Cowes... all my house goods', leaves to his daughter Mary Strange 'that Estate at Woonston with house and orchid thereto about 40 ackers', and to his other daughter land at Okeford called Longclose and Newcross.
