LETTER to Mrs. Brydges, Canterbury, Kent, from Elizabeth Patrick.
Dated Saturday Oct. 13 1792. 2p., 4to, 37 lines in a neat hand, conjoint leaf with address, black wax seal, and black postmark on verso.
¶ Says she's glad to hear her daughter is as well as can be expected in the circumstances but thinks it best if she and the children do not come to stay with her as 'it would be too much for her weak spirit... the Hooping cough is still very much about and a fever among the children... I am much obliged to you and Mrs Branfill for the copy of my Dr. Son's will, he could not do too much for so good a Wife'. There is a strange postcript about not sending dogs to India 'for fear of Madness'. The son referred to is probably Champion Branfill, who had married Charlotte Brydges and died in 1792. The writer had married Matthew Patrick.
Conyer Brick Works

Size 78" x 80", dissected and mounted on linen, folding into cloth endpapers size 15" x 10", printed label of 'Eastwoods Ltd. Conyer'. One section top right has come loose as linen torn along its edges. Various areas around brickworks shaded in different colours. Key bottom right with four colours showing Company Freehold, Dixon's Land, C.P. French's Land, Maxted's Land, public and private roads, cable and pipe lines. Covers Teynham, Barrow Green, Upper Newlands, Fowley Island and Oyster Beds, Watling Street. Linen slightly brittle at folds in places.
¶ Eastwoods Ltd. had large brickfields in Halstrow and Conyer. Founded in the early nineteenth century, they owned extensive wharves and depots, river barges. They were absorbed into the Redlands Group in the 1960's.

1p., folio, 31 lines, in English and Latin. Small wax seal, signed Tilden and two witnesses (including 'Mantle Boughton').
¶ Relates to a house in Hawkhurst.

DECLARATION signed by two Commissioners testifying that Mary Ann Underdown Jarman, wife of John Jarman, is of full age and understanding and has been examined apart from her husband regarding a particular deed.
Attached is the certificate with the names of the Commissioners, the wife and the husband, and the location of the property concerned, which was Ramsgate. Each document printed on vellum, approx. 14" x 9", manuscript inserts.

Folio, 3pp, fine double-page lithographed plan by J. Cross & Son, Holborn, loosely inserted, hand-coloured in full wash colour showing the Thames, The Chequers building and adjacent fields, with table of reference. There is no reference to any plan or plans in the document so it is not clear whether there was also a plan of Lot 2.
Hadlowe and East Peckham
ASSIGNMENT of several mortgages to attend an inheritance, John Kipping of East Peckham in the county of Kent, yeoman, Walter Barton of Hadlowe, yeoman.
Vellum, size 21" x 27", large initial 'T' in ink. Signed by Barton with small wax seal on tag. Refers to indenture of 1691 made between John Bate of Canterbury and Thomas Lightwick of Ashley and Thomas Carter of Wye, and the Manor of Caustens in the parishes of Hadlowe and East Peckham, with all messuages, stables, dovehouse, orchards, rents etc.
COUNTERPART LEASE of a farm house called Dalham, with barns, pasture etc., adjoining, in the parish of High Halstow, Robert Wilkins of St. Margarets, Rochester, to John Prebble of High Halstow.
Vellum sheet, size engraved coat of arms with lion and unicorn below, wax seal. Some brownish spotting in places.
¶ Lists 11 stipulations about manuring, use of straw, crops to be sewn etc.
POSTCARD titled 'Hop-Picking, Kent.' with black and white view of a group of hop-pickers standing amidst hop poles covered in hops, large filled sack. Group includes sailor in uniform and some children.
Sent through the post with Goudhurst postmark (date has not come out).
