Ruled in columns for Tenant, No. on Plan, Closes Names, Quality, Acreage, Value per Acre, Annual Amount. The plans are in ink, and fairly basic, showing field outlines, buildings, name of field and acreage. Neatly and carefully written throughout.
¶ Richard Dawson was tenant of 'Smith Shop with a small House nearly down & ought to be repair'd'. Mentions 'Hall & Homestead', 'Mill and Mill Race', 'Cottage at Millshaw' etc.

WATERCOLOUR showing pile of rocks, one balanced precariously on top of another.
Heather moors all around, with hills stretching into the distance. On thick paper in tones of purple, peaty-brown and grey, with grey-blue on distant hills. Size 11" x 17". On verso is written 'No. 18 Brimham Rocks'... together with... a similar watercolour, size 6" x 19", showing a pile of heather-clad rocks on the right, two small hills with buildings atop in middle distance, grey-blue hills on horizon... together with... another watercolour in the same hand showing a pile of rocks in the middle of the picture, in middle distance is what looks like a line of cliffs. All three paintings reach right to the edges of the paper. 3 items.
¶ Atmospheric paintings. The vegetation is well rendered. The scenery is reminiscent of Dartmoor.

Some slight wear at two points at central fold, one place with a small hole in paper and linen, small tear in paper only at bottom margin. The margins have been trimmed to the border, so there is no cartographer's name: this may have been originally on a slipcase label.

Arkle Beck along the bottom, Farn Gill at the left edge (north west side), Reeth Bridge at the bottom right edge. Boundary of the area in a blue line, reaching up to St. Andrews Cross, Pike Stones and Stony Poping top left corner, Copperthwaite on the right. The main area of mines is on the left and the right of the map, so that the middle section is fairly empty. The mining area near Farn Gill shows Blucher Vein, Wellington Vein, Primrose String, Haggs Level, East Level, the different Rises, Shafts, 'Foreheads' with dates marked, level mouths, Smiths, Gun Nest. Light red lines at 1" intervals across the whole map, on north-south axis. Remains of silk ribbon edging tape, some discoloration of linen on verso.
