  1. Banwell POSTCARD showing The Castle, Banwell. Coloured view, with cart and some children in front of the gateway. Used, with Banwell postmark. 1909. £4.00

  2. Bath Abbey WEST VIEW OF BATH ABBEY CHURCH. Monochrome watercolour drawing. On paper, size 7" x 5", a fine very detailed drawing, titled as above in the lower margin. On the lower corner is written 'Britton's B.A.C'. This drawing would seem to be taken from a plate in John Britton's 'Bath Abbey Church', (the figures in the doorway are the same) but whereas the engraving shows the rest of the Abbey this shows only the front. n.d. c1830? £18.00

  3. Bath SUBSCRIPTIONS AND DONATIONS BOOK For the Society for Preserving to the Public the Right of Ancient Footpaths. R. Hare, E. Saunders, Secretaries. Manuscript recording names and amounts for subscribers 1843-1870. 38p., sm. 8vo, parchment boards, worn, chipped morocco label with gilt title. There are also two minutes of meetings noting change of collector, signed R. Wilbraham Falconer (the author of works on the Bath Mineral Waters). 1843-70. £70.00
    Pasted inside front board is a printed letter stating the Society would like a subscription from each household 'the health and pleasure of the Inhabitants of Bath being so dependent upon the Footways that afford accommodation to pedestrians in reaching the various delightful situations around the City.' Among the subscribers are: R. Tite, C. Milsom, Rev. Bartram, T. Jolly, S. Rutter, J. Pulteney, Lady Hargood, Holloway & Son.

  4. Bath TWO POSTCARDS showing a parade. Both real photographs, black and white, no printed title on verso. One shows a parade with banners, possibly of a friendly society, one section in military-style uniform.. Sender has written 'Coming down Lansdown Rd. last Sunday' on front. The other shows the same? parade with what looks like policemen, marching by 'Hurder's Restaurant. One postmarked Oct. 12 1906, the other unused. £8.00

    The asylum was opened by Dr. Fox in 1806. It operated until the 1950's.

  12. Burnham-on-Sea, Love Lane CIRCUS FIESTA Tony Hopkins presents Live Family Entertainment at its Very Best. Poster, size 24" x 17", on glossy paper, picturing clown, lion, jumping poodle etc. Folded in four, small tear in margin at bottom corner, repaired on verso. 1970's? £12.00

  13. Chard OBLIGATION BOND Thomas Lawrence and Elizabeth Lane of Chard to Charles Edwards for £263. 1p., sm. folio, preamble printed with ms inserts, the main paragraph in manuscript. Signed by Thomas Lawrence and by Elizabeth Lane with her mark, two small wax seals. Blank conjoint leaf. Folds. 1809. £16.00

  14. Charlinch FINE relating to two messuages and land at Edington Burtle in Charlinch, between William Perkins and John Pearce. Vellum, size 9" x 16", printed with manuscript inserts. 1821. £12.00

  15. Cheddar GOUGH'S CAVES Cheddar, Somerset. Booklet of 16 sepia views, size 9" x 6", printed wraps, views titled in plate in white. 2pp. of text. Loosely inserted are 3 postcards of the caves. Small piece torn from corner of back wrap. n.d. late 1930's. £18.00

  17. Chew Magna EPITOME of the Settlement executed on the marriage of William Watson Esq. with Miss Bridget Bowles Abraham. 12p., folio, neatly written throughout, tied at top left corner with tape. 1842. £10.00
    Refers to a messuage in Chew Magna. There are no Schedules present with the document.

  18. Chewstoke LEASE FOR A YEAR of a tenement at Portbridge with orchard and mill adjoining, and a tenement called Vaughan's, Miss Mercy Webb to William Ogbourn and John Hammett. Vellum, size 15" x 19", signed by Mercy with armorial wax seal. 1795. £18.00

  19. Chilton NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Commissioners appointed in and by an Act of Parliament entitled 'An Act for dividing and Allotting the Open and Commonable Pastures... within the Hamlet of Chilton in the parish of Moorlinch' will hold their third Meeting.... at the Bull Inn... 12 lines on one side of 4to sheet, signed Thos. Mullins. 27th July 1798. £10.00

  20. Combe Down, Bath MAGDALEN HOSPITAL SCHOOL Visitors' Book. 1912 - 1921. 4to volume bound in full reversed calf, very rubbed at corners and edges of spine, morocco label on front board with gilt title. 208 pages recording visits by inspectors, which were at least twice a month. The reports cover from 3 - 57 lines (the last being a report by the Commissioner of the Board of Control, 1914. Mostly the reports say all well and the children in good health, sometimes giving number of boys and girls resident. There are comments about repairs needed, granting requests by the Supervisor for purchase of pillowslips, mattresses etc. 1912-1921. £80.00
    The school which was run by a charity, was for children with learning difficulties. In September 1915 the school was visited by Catherine Nevile, Central Association for the Care of the Mentally Defective who wrote 'Very much enjoyed seeing this Home. The conditions are quite delightful - so much is done to make the children happy. I wish there were room for more!'

  21. East Lydford ORDNANCE SURVEY MAP 6" to 1 mile, showing Wheathill, Lovington and East Lydford. Size 9" x 11", plus margins, mounted on linen, folding into stiff wraps. The area of Priory Farm has been coloured in green wash. c1930. £6.00

  22. Exford, Withypool etc. FIVE ORDNANCE SURVEY MAPS scale 6" to 1 mile. Each size 18" x 12", plus margins. Comprises: Sheet XIV S.E (Exford). Water features hand coloured, one field outlined in blue crayon; LVII N.E (Exton); LVII N.W (Winsford); LVII S.E (Brompton Regis); LVIII S.W (Yellands). A few small edge tears in Exford map. Five items. 1891 - 1907. £24.00

  23. Gibbs (S), Published by A NEW AND CORRECT PLAN of the City of Bath. Engraved plan, on thick paper, size 10" x 11", plus margins. Scale 1" = 100 yds. Border, decorative title, scale bar, compass rose, and Reference to 19 buildings. Covers Royal Victoria Park, Sydney Gardens, Mount Beacon, Prior Park Buildings. Published by S. Gibbs, 3 Union Street, Bath. n.d. c1830. £65.00
    Gibbs published numerous guidebooks to Bath, but this plan does not appear to have been folded or inserted in a book.

Hawkridge AUCTION HANDBILL advertising sale of Overland Tenements comprising fee simple of pasture land called West Shercombe, 2 acres of wood on Hawkridge Common, and 40 acres known as Shercombe Allotment. Sm. folio, folded, printed in large capitals, off-setting. 2p. manuscript conditions of sale attached. 1835. £24.00

  35. Moss Flower (T.J) PORTISHEAD SEWERAGE SCHEME Contract No. 1. Outfall details. Engineering drawing in ink and full colour on Whatman paper backed with linen, size 24" x 43". Scale 1" to 1 foot. Delicately coloured in shades of blue and brown, with great detail of each bolt etc. Shows large side elevation with piles, and four other sections and plans. Some creasing of paper at centre. Signed by J. Moss Flower. 18th June 1897. £20.00
    A beautifully executed and coloured engineering drawing.

  43. South Cadbury GLEBE EXCHANGE A Survey and Valuation of Lands in the Parish of South Cadbury the subject of a Proposed Exchange between Revd. Henry Bennett as Rector and James Bennett. Manuscript on 8p folio, sewn, with two double page schedules of lands, with field names, cultivation, declaration of surveyor etc. Folded. 1846. £16.00

  44. South Cadbury SURVEY AND VALUATION OF LANDS AND PREMISES IN THE PARISH OF SOUTH CADBURY.... the subject of a proposed exchange between the Revd Henry Bennett as Rector of that parish and James Bennet Esq.   45. Stoke under Hamdon DEMISE of a plot of ground, part of a garden, on Ham Hill, Samuel Haynes, Labourer, to John Tavender, Labourer. On paper, size 20" x 28", signed with his mark by Haynes, wax seal with a bust. Two very small splits in folds. 1827. £18.00

  46. Taunton Gas Works BILL Printed bill with manuscript inserts, for a Mr. Saunders. for 1700 cubic feet of gas. sm. 8vo, with 3 'clocks to fill in. Gives State of Meter, Gas consumed. Nov. 1. 1840. £6.00

  49. Theatre Royal, Bath FAREWELL BENEFIT and last appearance of the Extraordinary and Original Danseuses Viennoises... Saturday Evening, November 15, 1845.... Playbill on thin paper, size 15" x 10", some slight wear at one point where once folded vertically, reinforced on verso with tape. Some light browning at two points. Details 7 Acts, commencing with the 'Fascinating Pas de Fleurs'. There were three short plays between the different dances. Keenes, Printer, Bath. 1845. £40.00
    The young Queen Victoria sketched the dancers at a London performance. On the 18th November there was a variety benefit for Mrs Macready, the Lessee.

  53. Wellington LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION from the Bishop of Bath and Wells to Anstice Chadwell and Sarah Frackrell, daughters of Jane Prickman of Wellington, who died intestate. Printed on vellum with manuscript inserts, size 7" x 8", large papered seal of Bath and Wells. 1816. £17.00

  54. Wells and Frome ORDNANCE SURVEY Contoured Road Map, Sheet 121. Scale one inch to one mile. Popular edition, linen backed, Ellis Martin Covers. Pin-size hole at two places where folds meet. Published 1919. Slightly later. £5.00
